Featuring the Honourable Tina Beaudry-Mellor, Minister Responsible for the Status of Women Office
Tina Beaudry-Mellor was elected MLA for Regina University in 2016. She is also Minister of Advanced Education, Minister responsible for Innovation Saskatchewan and Minister responsible for the Status of Women. She previously served as the Minister of Social Services under the leadership of Premier Brad Wall.
In her capacity as the Minister of Innovation Saskatchewan, Tina introduced legislation that created the Saskatchewan Technology Start-Up Incentive, the most aggressive angel investment tax credit in Western Canada. This along with the Government’s support for incubators and accelerators, numerous coding and robotics initiatives for women, indigenous peoples and students from K-12 through to post-secondary, has helped Saskatoon become one of the fastest growing tech hubs in Canada. She will serve on the National FinTech Advisory Board in 2020.
As Minister responsible for the Status of Women she created the Women’s Economic Advisory Committee with partners at Women’s Entrepreneurs of Saskatchewan to develop recommendations to assist women owned businesses scale up and succeed.
In 2018, Minister Beaudry-Mellor led the Saskatchewan Alliance to Mexico where 11 agreements were signed including an agreement between Saskatcheawn Polytechnic and Instituto Politécnico Nacional de México. She represented the Council of Ministers of Education Canada (CMEC) at the G20 Education Ministerial Meetings in Argentina, which was the first time that the G20 convened a meeting on education. This past fall, Tina represented Canada on behalf of CMEC at the UNESCO General Conference in Paris.
