Are you ready for a transformative networking experience that celebrates and connects women in business? Look no further than WESK Connect!
WESK Connect is a newly launched monthly networking event designed to spotlight accomplished entrepreneurs and businesspeople. Our aim is to provide a platform for sharing insights, stories, and knowledge, fostering meaningful connections among business professionals. Did we mention registration, appetizers, a beverage of your choice, and entry to win a door prize are all free?
This event is designed to celebrate, connect, and elevate female leaders, entrepreneurs, and industry experts. WESK Connect embodies the spirit of our successful Uncorked and Shaken with a Twist series but with a fresh look and feel. We are bringing you a relaxed and inviting setting, with a more direct focus on connectivity, networking and candor. The format of the event is as follows:
- 5:00 – 5:45PM: Check-in, Networking, Optional Networking Activity
- 5:45 – 6:30PM: Introductions, Candid Conversation with Featured Guest
- 6:30 – 6:45PM: Q&A
- 6:45 – 7:00PM: Networking
This month we are welcoming the multifaceted and motivated Paula Kohl as our Featured Guest, with WESK’s very own Miriam Johnson as our Host!
Featured Guest: Paula Kohl
Paula Kohl is an International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) Accredited Business Communicator with more than 20 years’ experience in professional communication. She currently holds the position of Director, Corporate Communication, at Farm Credit Canada, where she oversees internal and stakeholder communication. In her previous position as Director, Marketing and Communication at Regina Exhibition Association Limited (operator of REAL District), Paula was part of the opening of Mosaic Stadium (home of the Saskatchewan Roughriders). She also oversaw public engagement and the early stages of a multi-year strategy that will see Regina evolve into a vibrant entertainment district. Prior to this, Paula led an award-winning team of communicators at SaskPower.
Over the past few years, Paula pursued a different passion besides strategic communication. She completed the Level 3 Wine and Spirit Education Trust certification at Napa Valley Wine Academy and the Fine Vintage Canadian Wine Scholar designation. Paula combines her two passions – communication and wine – to deliver entertaining wine tastings through her new venture, Taste of Class, that leave participants with anecdotes and facts that will impress their friends. Paula’s retirement goal is to be a wine educator in the Okanagan, while writing about wine either personally or professionally.

As the Chief Executive Officer of WESK, Miriam has a strong passion and commitment to enabling Saskatchewan to flourish. Equipped with a growth-focused mindset and diverse experience across multiple sectors, she is well-positioned to lead WESK’s team towards achieving their mission of closing the gender entrepreneurship gap.
If you ask Miriam what she is most excited about regarding the future of WESK, she will share how inspiring it is to be part of an organization driving for and seeing progressive change. She recognizes the demands and challenges women entrepreneurs face every day. She is inspired to strategically address gaps and barriers and identify opportunities to foster a strong community of women entrepreneurs. She believes that supporting women is integral to building a strong Saskatchewan.
