Call for Experts – The Exchange

WESK is seeking dynamic and knowledgeable experts to present on a variety of topics to develop the competencies, knowledge, and technical skills of the participants of The Exchange.

The Exchange is the catalyst for women entrepreneurs who are ready to harness their true potential and take their businesses to the next level of growth and profitability. Offered over a three-year term, the heart of the experience begins with a tailor-made “Board”, designed to nourish their courageous spirits and bring out their very best. Boards consist of 8-12 women entrepreneurs (also known as “Board Members”), who have been carefully selected to exchange knowledge and lessons learned along their business journey. Finally, the Board has a “Chair” appointed; her wealth of experience as a successful businesswoman, combined with a passion for entrepreneurship, sets the stage for 10 months of enriched learning.

Through dynamic peer learning, coaching calls, retreats, presentations from inspiring and well-seasoned experts, and networking opportunities, each part of this program is crafted to hone business acumen and entrepreneurial nerve. While investing in personal growth and supporting other women owned business in the Boards, women entrepreneurs are also positively impacting the gender gap that currently exists in the Canadian entrepreneurship ecosystem.

This program was made possible through funding received from The Government of Canada as part of the creation of the Women Entrepreneurship Fund and Women Entrepreneurship Strategy Ecosystem Fund. To read the full press release about this announcement, click here.

Digital Entrepreneurship Hub – Indigenous Space

March 1, 2021

Since 1995, WESK has helped thousands of women start, purchase, and expand their businesses. Now, we are taking an even bolder approach focused on innovation and excellence. We are stepping up our training, engaging with great partners, and bringing even more resources to entrepreneurs to help generate success.

The Digital Entrepreneurship Hub was a recommendation that stemmed from the Saskatchewan Advisory Committee Report which was released in September 2020. This website will enable women to access relevant resources in a timely manner. The digital nature of the hub eliminates barriers of access such as distance, accessibility to childcare, and financial resources. This online hub will also link women to mentors and subject matter experts in a virtual environment. WESK is confident that the Indigenous space within the online hub will house all the information an Indigenous woman in Saskatchewan will need to start or grow her business. New and exciting resources will be added that are not available online.

• Identify content that needs to be sourced or created;
• Research, develop, write and edit new or modify existing content;
• Audit current WESK resources;

• List capabilities and qualifications
• How the work would be organized and managed (including timelines)
• Costs associated with the work to be undertaken, including direct costs

Call for Expression of Interest: Development of a Digital Entrepreneurship Hub for Women Entrepreneurs

Women Entrepreneurs of Saskatchewan (WESK) is calling for expression of interest to participate in the request for proposal (RFP) process. The call is open to web developers with a passion for the advancement of women entrepreneurship in Saskatchewan.

The Digital Entrepreneurship Hub was a recommendation that stemmed from the Saskatchewan Advisory Committee Report which was released September 2020.

One of the greatest challenges for all entrepreneurs is navigating the entrepreneurial ecosystem and leveraging relevant available resources. The entrepreneurial ecosystem includes educational institutions, banks, accountants, investors, regulators, and governmental agencies, to name a few. While support is vast, information and resources often lack coordination and can be overwhelming to navigate.

The Committee proposed the following recommendations:

  • Building on the current infrastructure and programs/services of WESK such as The Exchange, create a one-stop shop Digital Hub that eases navigation and access to: resources, programs and services, mentors, experts and peers; and
  • Create systems for real-time data collection regarding but not limited to program/service utilization, demographics on the business and degree to which businesses are achieving scale. The data gathered will also be valuable for analysis of trends and insights into identifying companies who may or may not be aware of their position for scaling.

This portal will enable women to access relevant resources in a timely manner. The digital nature of the hub eliminates barriers to access such as distance, accessibility to childcare, and financial resources.

This online hub will also link women to mentors and subject matter experts in a virtual environment.

To ensure you receive the RFP, please submit your expression of interest to Cara Cote (ccote@wesk.rbdemo.site)  no later than Oct 23, 2020 at 5:00pm.
