Marlin Travel Downtown YXE

I worked part-time in grocery retail in high school and  university, working my way up to department manager   but my passion for travel called! I went back to school in   the Travel Counsellor program at Grant MacEwan in   Edmonton.  In my second year of college I got a part-time  job in a travel agency and, once I finished college, I was a   full-time corporate travel agent.  I lived in Edmonton for  almost 5 years.  I moved back to Saskatoon, married and  I have 2 children.  Like most mothers, my children are   my greatest achievement!  I worked in corporate travel for  9 more years and, when airlines cut commissions, I  transitioned to leisure travel.  I also taught in the travel  program at Universal Career College. My career   transitioned again when I was offered a position as   agency manager with Thomas Cook Travel in 2005. TDC  bought Thomas Cook Canada, we re-branded as Marlin  Travel and I stayed with the company for 12 1/2 years. The  company was then sold to an American company. Being   proudly Canadian, I didn’t want to work for an American-  owned company.  The opportunity arose for me to   purchase Discovery Travel and I franchised and re-  branded as Marlin Travel.  Here I am today!  I started   with 3 full-time and 1 part-time travel advisor and, by   2020, I also had 14 home-based travel advisors.  The   Covid-19 pandemic has presented its challenges but   I’m confident that we will survive.  Once it’s safe to   travel, we will thrive again!
