About the Business

Spark Solutions is a management consulting and facilitation firm that helps sport organizations to deliver better sport. Lara Schroeder, Owner and Principal of Spark Solutions, works with clients to strengthen governance and programming and develop strategies to respond to their complex organizational needs. She draws on her educational background, professional knowledge, and over 15 years of experience to inform her work, resulting in collaborative, evidence-based solutions that support sport organizations to achieve their goals and help them deliver better sport experiences for their participants and stakeholders. Lara also works with organizations outside of sport and brings play and fun from her sport background to strategic planning, team building, meeting facilitation, and stakeholder engagement.

Lara Schroeder

I grew up playing sports in one of Saskatchewan’s many small towns, and over the years have been involved in just about every possible way: as an athlete (recreational and competitive), coach, referee, volunteer, and administrator. I’ve seen the positive impact sport can have on people in communities and it inspires me to work in the field and do what I can to elevate it.

Beyond participating, I have studied sport management, recreation, and leisure studies. I’ve obtained a diploma, bachelor’s and master’s degrees, and I’m a lifelong learner who keeps my finger on the pulse of what’s happening – and what’s coming up

From the court of the classroom to the boardroom, I have been involved with several Saskatchewan provincial sport organizations, with multi-sport competitions including the Western Canada Summer games, Jeux du Canada Games, Youth Olympic Games, and Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games, and have worked with clients such as the Professional Golfers Association of Canada, Volleyball Canada, Sask Sport Inc., Saskatchewan Parks and Recreation Association, Indigenous Sport Council of Alberta, the Regina Food Bank, and McMaster University
