Rural WESK Connect: Estevan

We’re bringing our renowned networking events to you thanks to our friends at Conexus Credit Union.

We’re partnering with Her Circle to bring you a special International Women’s Day edition of Rural WESK Connect.

Join us for an evening of connection and conversation with a casual networking event to bring together women entrepreneurs, business professionals, and community members in a welcoming and comfortable environment. WESK Connect offers a chance to exchange insights with fellow entrepreneurs or discover what entrepreneurship could look like for you! Did we mention registration, appetizers, a beverage of your choice, and entry to win a door prize are all free?

We’re keeping things relaxed – networking and a panel discussion. Just good company, engaging conversations, and an optional networking activity to help break the ice. Come as you are and leave with new contacts, fresh perspectives, and maybe even a few unexpected collaborations. The format of the event is as follows:

  • 6:30 – 7:00 PM: Registration
  • 7:00 – 8:00 PM: Panel discussion
  • 8:00 – 8:30 PM: Networking

Lauren is a CPA and Manager at Virtus Group with more than a decade of accounting experience. A Regina native, she earned her Bachelor of Business Administration – Accounting from MacEwan University in Edmonton before achieving her CPA designation in 2022. Known for her commitment to building lasting client relationships, Lauren delivers strategic, client-focused solutions that support long-term success. Her expertise spans owner-managed businesses, professional services, and the oil and gas sector. Outside of work, she enjoys life with her young family, getting lost in a good book, and spending quality time with loved ones.

Dr. Kyra Widenmaier, ND

Dr. Kyra Widenmaier, ND is a licensed Naturopathic Doctor practicing at Royal Heights Wellness in Estevan, Saskatchewan. She holds her Doctor of Naturopathy degree from the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine (CCNM) in Toronto and also brings a solid foundation in human movement and rehabilitation from her background in Athletic Therapy. Her practice focuses on comprehensive, evidence-informed, whole-person care, using a range of naturopathic modalities such as clinical nutrition, lifestyle support, botanical medicine, acupuncture, homeopathy, physical therapies, and functional lab testing to address digestive concerns, hormonal imbalances, chronic fatigue, stress, pain, and overall wellness. Dr. Widenmaier is actively engaged with the Estevan community and is passionate about supporting patients in achieving their health goals naturally.

Kathryn Gilliss is a partner at Trobert Gilliss Law Firm in Estevan. Kathryn was called to the bar in 2015 and became a partner in 2020. Kathryn’s practice includes Family Law, Wills & Estate Planning and Administration, Civil Litigation, Employment law, Corporate Commercial and Real EstateTransactions, Criminal Law and a Federal Crown Prosecution agency contract. She is also a certified Collaborative Lawyer and Mediator working to take families out of the adversarial family law system and focus on interest-based solutions to minimize the conflict and trauma for families dealing with separation and divorce. Kathryn’s work has been acknowledgedwithin her profession through awards such as the 2015 Articling Student Proficiency Award and the 2023 Southeast Women of Distinction Awards, Outstanding Contribution to the Workplace Award.

Outside of practice, Kathryn is a member of many local and provincial boards and committees, including: Council Member and former Director of the Canadian Bar Association – Saskatchewan Branch, Bencher of the Law Society of Saskatchewan (LSS) and Chair of the LSS Competency Committee, Southeast Governor of the Saskatchewan Trial Lawyers Association, and President of the Southeast Bar Association, Board Member of the Estevan Art Gallery and Museum Board, Board Member of the Estevan Mermaids Artistic Swimming Club. Kathryn has also managed two federal election campaigns within the Souris-Moose Mountain Electoral District.

Kathryn is also a Skate Canada certified Senior Invitational Level Judge, Novice Level Ice Dance Judge and Section Level Technical Controller and Technical Specialist, travelling across Canada officiating figure skating on behalf of the Saskatchewan Section. She has also been recognized for her work with Skate Canada Saskatchewan as the 2023 Section Official Award and 2024 Coaches Choice Award recipient. Kathryn and her husband, Dylan, have two young children Zella and Porter and in their spare time they love to travel and explore the world as a family.

Becky Cassidy has called Estevan home for over 20 years, dedicating her life and career to building stronger communities and amplifying women’s voices.

Every role she has taken on has been rooted in connection, authenticity, leadership, and growth. Currently, Becky serves as Executive Director of the Estevan Chamber of Commerce and leads Monarch Business Consulting, where she helps entrepreneurs get clear and turn ideas into action.

A community builder at heart, a passionate advocate for women, a wife and a mother, Becky draws from her own lived experiences to inspire courage, resilience, and meaningful change.
On International Women’s Day, she will share her keynote, “When Life Hands You Lessons”, a story-driven message about navigating life’s hardest seasons and how those experiences can shape resilience, clarity, and the courage to find your voice.
