Know Your Business Webinar: Franchising

Franchising can be an appealing pathway into business ownership, but it comes with unique legal obligations, risks, and long‑term commitments.

This session provides a practical introduction to the legal foundations of franchising for entrepreneurs who are considering buying a franchise or want to better understand how franchise relationships work.

Participants will learn what legally defines a franchise, how franchising differs from other business models, and the key documents that govern the relationship between franchisors and franchisees. The session will explore common terms and clauses found in franchise disclosure documents and franchise agreements, highlight potential legal risks, and outline the responsibilities franchisees take on when entering into a franchise system.

Designed for business owners and aspiring entrepreneurs, this session emphasizes plain‑language explanations and real‑world considerations, with a focus on the importance of due diligence and independent legal advice before signing any franchise-related agreements. By the end of the session, participants will be better equipped to assess whether franchising is the right fit for their business goals and to engage more confidently with legal and professional advisors.
