About the Business
Copper Springs Health and Safety Consulting Inc. is based in Esterhazy, SK and was founded in 2020. We are a management consultancy with an Occupational Health and Safety focus. We offer a wide range of services to the Southeast region of Saskatchewan. Copper Springs is 100% Indigenous-owned and led by a woman who is a Canadian Registered Safety Professional, as well as an Occupational Health Nurse.
The two professions meld well to provide strategic guidance for employers to lead a workplace that manages the risks of workplace loss as a specific business goal. Simply put, we are specialists in helping to keep workers happy, healthy, and at work by supporting business owners to effectively manage workplace risks. Positive outcomes are realized by minimising the risk of worker losses, loss to equipment and materials, and negative impact to the environment.
Val Foulds MacLeod
As a self-proclaimed “adrenaline junkie”, Val entered her nursing career and quickly found she loved working in the challenging areas of hospitals. Hands-on experience provided satisfaction as she cared for critically ill or severely injured patients. However, not everyone was lucky enough to survive the trauma they experienced, and she questioned how could the injuries have been prevented?
A move to Northern Alberta introduced Val to Occupational Health Nursing and the question was finally answered. Collaboration with the Safety and Industrial Hygiene departments contributed to injury prevention measures on the job sites. The level of satisfaction grew over a thirty-five-year career, and in 2020, Val founded her company, Copper Springs Health and Safety Consulting in Esterhazy, SK.
Val is a life-long learner. She has attained a nursing specialty as an Occupational Health Nurse, and the designations of Certified Health and Safety Consultant and Canadian Registered Safety Professional.
