About the Business
Pickard Literacy Studio is a private tutoring service for students that have difficulty learning to read. Lessons are targeted to your child’s reading level with regular assessment and progress monitoring. PLS instruction follows the Science of Reading and is based on research including the Orton Gillingham method. Lessons focus on reading, spelling, printing, writing, and reading comprehension. We support students from kindergarten to grade 8. PLS specializes in helping students with learning disabilities, ADHD and Autism.
Courtney Pickard
Courtney is a certified special education teacher. She has taught in public and private settings, rural and urban school systems and within the classroom and resource room. She developed an interest in supporting literacy learning early in her career. She has trained in Science of Reading techniques, and she has taken Orton Gillingham courses to further her instruction. She is an advocate for students with Dyslexia and works to make reading accessible to all.
