Eligibility
Businesses must be owned and operated in Saskatchewan with majority (51%+) woman or women ownership. More than half of all operating decisions must also be made by the woman or women owners. If your business isn’t 51%+ woman-owned, but you can attest to making the majority of business decisions, apply to determine eligibility.
If your business isn’t majority woman-owned, you can still support the cause. Learn more about how you can show your commitment to advancing women entrepreneurs by proudly displaying the “Supporter of Women-Owned Businesses – Saskatchewan” badge.
Background
In May 2019, The Saskatchewan Advisory Committee on the Gender Entrepreneurship Gap combined new research and member expertise to develop strategies that create equitable opportunities for business owners in the province. This led to launching a brand identity to celebrate and showcase Saskatchewan’s women-owned businesses.
Entrepreneurs, particularly women, play a vital role in driving Canada’s economy, contributing $148 billion annually, with the potential to add another $150 billion by closing the gender gap. Addressing the unique challenges faced by women, non-binary, and underrepresented business owners in Saskatchewan—such as limited access to capital, mentorship, and networks—is essential for economic growth.
In their report, Enabling Scale in Saskatchewan, the committee focused on breaking barriers, enabling business growth, and inspiring success, with a vision of redefining entrepreneurial opportunities for future generations.
