What is Insolvency & How Can It Affect Your Business?

This presentation will define insolvency in practical terms. The presenters will discuss:

  • The impact of insolvency on you and your business depending upon how your business is structured (sole-proprietor, partnership or corporation),
  • The options available to you when you are insolvent, and
  • Options for your business to recover money if you are owed money for goods or services by an insolvent person or business.


Presenter: Rachel Haack, MillerThomson

Rachel Haack is an Associate lawyer with Miller Thomson LLP. She is an active member of Miller Thomson’s litigation team and has appeared before all levels of Court in Saskatchewan. Rachel works with other team members in the fields of commercial litigation, corporate disputes, debtor and creditor disputes, and other civil litigation matters. Rachel holds a Juris Doctor from the University of Saskatchewan, College of Law.

Presenter: Wuraola Dasylva, MillerThomson

Wuraola (Wura) Dasylva is an associate with Miller Thomson LLP. She has an active practice in corporate/commercial law including sale and purchase of businesses, corporate finance, bankruptcy and insolvency. She holds a Master of Laws (LL.M.) degree from the University of Manitoba.
